This is our project on "St Georges day" this is what I did:

       St George and the Dragon
The king of Selene had a beautiful daughter, named Cleodolinda. She was fair, kind, and sweet. He had said “We have a country that is at peace, we are not rich, but we are not poor, and we are happy.”

One day, one of the guards, said “I’ll just go and check the back of the castle wall, before I go in for breakfast”
He walked around, and smelt something very unpleasant. “sniff, sniff, sniff ”
 What was it?
The smell got stronger, as he walked, he couldn’t take it any more, tripped over, and fell asleep, never to wake again.
A knight, on his horse, came riding by, and saw the dead guard, on the floor, “poor fellow” he said, “I wonder how it happened?”
He rode a little further, and smelt a smell, that he didn’t find very nice. Soon, he couldn’t stand it either, and dropped of the horse.
Another of the guards was heading in when he smelt a smell, a foul one, coming from outside of the village wall. He hoisted himself up, and his head poked above the edge. He knew he was in the right place, the smell was stronger than ever before, and saw a great big creature, scaly and strong, breathing out those poisonous fumes, that was the horrid smell! It was a dragon!
The guard, ran back to inform the king of this dreadful news, and the king went pale.
The king called a meeting, for all his army and soldiers, and his guards. He cried “But what do we have that he wants!”
The bravest guard, said “I’ll go talk to ‘im, see what, ‘e wants”
He went over to the dragon, and said “ ’Ay, stop blowin’ those fumes, I wanna’ talk to ya, what you want from us, we don’t hav’ nofin’ excitin’ leave us alone’ yeah?”
The dragon said “I will stop blowing my fumes, if you feed me two sheep, a day”
The guard went back to the king and told him what the dragon had said, and the king ordered to have two sheep put outside the village gates, every day.
A few months later, a guard came to the king and said “We don’t have many sheep left”
The king called another meeting and the guards said, “ We will fight him, and try to kill him”
The king replied “But you can’t! The dragon will kill you, and then EAT you!”
He agreed to let them try, because, it was their only hope, he couldn’t think of anything else.
The dragon saw the guards, and came towards them, batting his wings, and breathing fire.
He killed, the guards, one by one, and then, as the king had said, eaten them.
The king went to the dragon and said to him “Look, stop breathing fire, We don’t have any sheep left, now go to another country, and eat their sheep”
The dragon said, “I will not, feed me a child a day, and I will not bother you”
The king went back to the village, pale, and said to the people “I have just been to the dragon, and he said he will not bother us if we feed him a child a day”
The people cried “But our children are our life, we can’t live without them, there’s no point!”
They agreed though, through, tears, and protests. They had no choice.
“All children under the age of fifteen will be fed to the dragon, one a day” said the king, shakily
The people were all worrying about what would happen after all the children were gone, but the king had one fear in his heart: Cleodolinda
Cleodolinda sat at her window, watching the children being taken outside the gates, and felt so upset.
Soon it was Cleodolinda’s turn, and the kings worst fear turned into reality,
The king said to the people “Can I have just eight days, to love her, and remember her beauty”
The people agreed to sacrifice their own children for eight days, whilst the king looked at her for the last time.
Those eight days went by, and it came to be Cleodolinda’s turn to be fed to the dragon
The women dressed Cleodolinda in white rags, and she was taken outside the gates
She crossed her arms across her breasts, and looked at the ground.
A knight came riding by, and Cleodolinda looked up, The knight asked her why she looked so unhappy.
“You must go! The dragon will be here soon, leave me, save your own life! Here he comes, Go, GO!!”
The knight went and stood in the dragon’s view, and the dragon, came towards, batting his wings, and breathing fire. The knight held his shield, and fought for ages, and ages, and ages.
The knight, saw that the dragon was lifting one wing and then pulling it back really quickly.
“A-hah” thought the knight, he has a weak spot!
The knight waited until the dragon lifted his wings again, and the knight shoved and twisted his spear, until the dragon fell, he wasn’t quite dead, but injured, so weakened.
He told Cleodolinda to take off her girdles and tie them around the dragon’s neck, and then she pulled the dragon back to the village, in the centre of the village, the knight, who had been following them, got his sword and stabbed him, killing him once and for all.
The king cried “Thank you so much, you have saved us, what can we give you to thank you, a present, what do you want!”
“I want you all to believe in God, trust him, and become Christians. And know me as St George, and I must be on my way, goodbye everyone,” said St George, and with that, he trotted out the village gates, turning round to wave at them.
